Hot air balloon flights operate under FAA Visual Flight Rules (VFR). We continuously monitor weather patterns and make flight decisions based on the following conditions:

Why We Monitor Multiple Wind Layers
To change direction during flight, your pilot maneuvers the balloon up and down to find winds traveling in different directions at different altitudes. That's why we need clear conditions across multiple layers — it gives us more options for steering your adventure and landing safely.
This is one of the reasons hot air ballooning requires such careful pre-flight planning. Our pilots review hourly forecasts at multiple altitudes before every launch decision.

You'll complete a pre-flight instruction and policy acknowledgment form before takeoff.

Landing location is determined during flight based on wind conditions — part of what makes every flight a unique adventure.

Pilot Authority
Your pilot makes all decisions regarding flight safety and routing. Their sole focus is your safety and enjoyment.

Gentle Touchdown
The balloon lands at the same speed as the surface wind — typically a smooth, gentle touchdown.

We always err on the side of safety. If weather doesn't cooperate on your scheduled date, we'll work with you to find the next available date that fits your schedule. Your flight is guaranteed until taken — no expiration, no pressure, no fees.
We begin monitoring conditions several days out and keep you informed every step of the way. You'll never be left wondering — we communicate proactively so you can plan with confidence.
